Vice President, Melvin Haft
Mr. Haft is formerly the Senior Associate for Global Peace Foundation’s (GPF) Interfaith Division and former Director Office of Strategic Partnerships, an international organization that promotes three pillars: conflict resolution through interfaith dialogue and activities, family values, and volunteerism. GPF’s theme is One Family under God. As a graduate from Unification Theological Seminary with a Masters Degree in Religious Education, Mr. Haft was an instructor for Prince George’s Community College, Sage Program from 2007– 2010 teaching courses on Comparative World Religions and a course on The Great Peacemakers. With Dr. Rabbi Ben-Ami, a renowned civil rights leader and Chairman of the American Forum for Jewish-Christian Cooperation (AFJCC), Mr. Haft, as its Executive Vice President, held inaugural prayers and interfaith programs in Washington, DC.
Mr. Haft with his wife Holly Sherman Haft is the State Director of National Parent’s Day and former Maryland State Director for Free Teens USA, teaching HIV-AIDS, STD and Pregnancy prevention programs working with PG County high school’s health teachers and school counselors.
During his earlier years, from 1982-86, Mr. Haft was the Interfaith Program Coordinator for the Youth Seminar on World Religions. He traveled the world leading groups of 150 international and interfaith students and religious scholars in studying the world religions in their historical settings with the theme World Peace through Religious Dialogue and Harmony. Mr. Haft has traveled extensively throughout the world, including many times to the Holy Land, and has met with religious figures such as Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, Orthodox Patriarchs, Chief Rabbis, Imams, Catholic Cardinals and Hindu Swamis as well as many sitting and former heads of state.
Mel and Holly Haft have three married children and two grandchildren.
